Indonesia and China have solidified their economic partnership by signing three significant investment agreements totaling about $2 billion, or 36 trillion Rupiah. These agreements were finalized during the Indonesia-China Partnership Forum held in Jakarta, signaling a strengthened collaboration in sectors such as renewable energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

The most substantial of these agreements is centered around the construction of a 300-megawatt agrivoltaic solar power plant in North Sumatra. Valued at approximately $1.35 billion, this ambitious project aims to integrate solar power generation with agricultural activities, positioning itself as one of the largest renewable energy ventures in the region. This innovative approach not only highlights Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions but also showcases the country’s potential to merge agricultural productivity with clean energy technologies.

Further agreements were cemented between Indonesian food and beverage enterprise Jobubu Jarum Minahasa and China’s Guangxi G. Taste Food Co., Ltd., alongside another partnership between Telkom Properti Indonesia and CNEC Engineering Indonesia. These collaborations are expected to bolster the food manufacturing and engineering sectors, fostering mutual growth and technological advancements between the two nations.

According to Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesia’s Ambassador to China, the primary objective of these investments is to attract high-quality ventures that can stimulate job creation, facilitate technology transfer, and enhance domestic industries. He emphasized that future collaborations between Indonesia and China would focus on key sectors such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, and green technology, all aimed at supporting sustainable economic growth.

Data from Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment highlights that Chinese investments in Indonesia reached $38.34 billion from 2021 through the first half of 2026, resulting in the creation of over 500,000 jobs. This influx of capital and employment opportunities underscores the pivotal role China plays in Indonesia’s economic landscape, as both countries continue to forge a dynamic and mutually beneficial partnership.
