Nguyễn Minh Vũ, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, recently led a delegation on a visit to the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie. The goal of the visit was to bolster cooperation between Vietnamese regions and northeastern Cambodia, while also assessing the operations of Vietnamese businesses and the conditions of the Vietnamese-origin community residing there.

In discussions with provincial leaders, both parties explored ways to enhance collaboration in areas such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials emphasized the strengthening connections with Vietnamese provinces, which have been facilitated through various cooperation agreements, business exchanges, and development projects. Kratie province, in particular, acknowledged the advancements in diplomatic and socio-economic partnerships with Vietnam. This includes contributions towards infrastructure development and joint efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who perished during wartime in Cambodia.

Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ acknowledged the positive impact of Vietnamese companies engaged in sectors like agriculture, mining, and rubber production within Cambodia. He noted that these enterprises have played a role in boosting local economic development and enhancing bilateral relations. In Stung Treng, local officials highlighted the province’s potential for investment in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, urging more Vietnamese businesses to consider opportunities in this promising region.

During his visit, the ambassador also engaged with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community to address their legal and livelihood concerns. He encouraged adherence to local laws and expressed support for education and sustainable development initiatives. Currently, Vietnam stands as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors, boasting over 200 investment projects in the country with a total registered capital of approximately $3 billion.
