President Donald Trump has emphasized the poor timing of an alleged Ukrainian drone attack on Vladimir Putin’s residence, noting that such actions complicate peace efforts. Trump expressed his anger after Putin personally informed him about the incident during a phone call.
Russian authorities claim that 91 long-range drones were launched toward Putin’s Novgorod region property, all of which were intercepted by air defense systems. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov characterized the alleged attempt as evidence of Ukraine’s shift to “state terrorism.”
Trump’s public comments stressed that while Ukraine has engaged in offensive operations, the timing and target of this alleged attack were particularly problematic. Speaking to reporters, he suggested that targeting a world leader’s personal residence during peace negotiations undermines diplomatic progress.
President Zelensky completely rejected the allegations, describing them as Russian lies intended to derail peace efforts. He accused Moscow of fabricating the incident to justify planned strikes against Ukrainian government buildings and to sabotage the constructive dialogue with Trump’s administration.
