In a bid to bolster regional stability, Vietnam and Malaysia are deepening their defence collaboration. This move comes as both nations aim to enhance their bilateral relations. Recently, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Phan Văn Giang engaged in discussions with Malaysia’s outgoing Ambassador Dato’ Tan Yang Thai in Hanoi, where he commended the ambassador’s efforts in advancing the cooperative ties between the two countries.
During their meeting, General Giang pointed out the significant strides made in defence relations. These advancements include regular exchanges between their military forces, policy dialogues, joint training initiatives, and coordination at various international and multilateral gatherings. Such developments underscore the commitment of both nations to strengthen their defence partnership.
General Giang emphasized the importance of continuing to implement existing agreements and fostering stronger engagement through high-level meetings and defence cooperation frameworks. He extended an invitation to Malaysian defence leaders and companies, encouraging them to participate in the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2026, slated to be held in Hanoi.
Expressing gratitude, the Malaysian ambassador acknowledged the support of Vietnam’s defence ministry and military throughout his tenure. He voiced optimism that the defence ties between Malaysia and Vietnam would continue to flourish, contributing to peace and prosperity across the region.
