Indonesia and Serbia have reached an agreement to enhance their bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, industrial development, food and energy security, and emerging technologies. This agreement was formalized during the fifth Bilateral Consultation Forum held in Jakarta, where both nations explored various avenues for collaboration.

During the discussions, Indonesia extended an invitation to Serbia to engage in joint efforts in mineral exploration and nickel processing, as well as to participate in electric vehicle supply chains. The two countries also examined potential partnerships in the fields of artificial intelligence, data centers, semiconductors, and digital transformation, reflecting a shared interest in advancing technological innovation.

Economic ties between Indonesia and Serbia have been strengthening, with bilateral trade growing at an average rate of 20.62% annually from 2021 to 2025, culminating in a total of $53.6 million in 2025. In an effort to further expand trade, both sides agreed to explore the possibility of establishing a free trade agreement and to set up a joint economic commission aimed at improving access to Central and Eastern European markets.

The forum also provided a platform for discussions on investment opportunities, industrial production, and employment cooperation. A significant focus was placed on exploring government-to-government arrangements to enhance the legal protection of Indonesian migrant workers residing in Serbia.

In addition to economic and technological collaboration, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to upholding sovereignty and territorial integrity. They agreed to continue these dialogues with plans for a sixth Bilateral Consultation Forum to be held in Serbia, with the date yet to be determined.
