Cambodia is intensifying its efforts to upgrade its transport and logistics infrastructure to enhance trade competitiveness and strengthen its integration with regional and global supply chains. This strategic push was highlighted in a recent meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hun Manet, where the Council of Ministers reviewed progress in improving supply chains, trade routes, and transportation systems.
The government is focusing on reducing transit costs and improving connections between domestic markets and international trade corridors. These initiatives are part of the Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023–2033, which outlines 174 projects aimed at developing roads, railways, waterways, ports, aviation, logistics, and intermodal transport.
The overarching goal of these improvements is to bolster Cambodia’s manufacturing sector, agro-processing, and higher-value industries, while also attracting foreign investment. By doing so, the country seeks to enhance its role in regional and global trade networks, making it a more competitive player on the international stage.
Through this comprehensive infrastructure plan, Cambodia aims to position itself as a key hub in Southeast Asia, offering efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions. The government hopes these developments will facilitate smoother trade flows, create economic opportunities, and drive national growth.
