The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) has revealed that its International Certificate in Operational Risk Management (ICORM) and three other professional risk management award programs are now eligible for funding by HRD Corp in Malaysia. This development is set to widen the availability of globally recognized risk management education in the country. The aim of this initiative is to aid Malaysian businesses and professionals in enhancing their expertise in enterprise risk management amidst the growing challenges posed by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and governance.
This move is in line with Malaysia’s focus on workforce development, particularly in the face of a continuing skills shortage in risk management roles. The IRM is committed to offering employers adaptable, workplace-centric training designed to foster improved decision-making and bolster organizational resilience. The inclusion of HRD Corp-funded programs seeks to address the critical need for skilled professionals in this sector, providing a structured pathway for developing these capabilities.
Among the programs eligible for HRD Corp funding are Managing AI Risks in the Workplace, which addresses governance, ethical, and operational risks linked with artificial intelligence; Financial Services Risk Management, which delves into risk management practices within banking, insurance, and financial services; and Managing Organisational Risks, which introduces participants to enterprise risk management principles. The International Certificate in Operational Risk Management (ICORM) covers a comprehensive range of topics including operational risk frameworks, controls, monitoring, reporting, risk culture, and event management.
IRM Asia, the regional branch of the organization and a registered HRD Corp training provider, announced that Malaysian employers eligible for these programs can receive funding while investing in esteemed professional qualifications. This initiative is part of IRM’s broader strategy to broaden the reach of professional risk management education throughout the ASEAN region, aiming to assist organizations in building enduring risk management competencies.
